When Ivan Zavala Steidel laid eyes on the structure that nestles Don Rafa Boutique Hotel today, he immediately knew it was special, that a lot of love and history lived within its walls. Although it required great amounts of restauration, it didn’t take long for Iván to envision a hospitality venture, one that would stand tall among the others, and would personify the character of whom had brought up this building out of love for family and our culture.
That is how the inspiration for Don Rafa Boutique Hotel & Residences was born. A concept for luxury hospitality that would embody the warmth and feeling of welcomeness and family that so distinguished the building’s original owner. Carefully curating every detail in its design and renovation, for 4 years, Iván led the team to bring his vision to reality. Today, that reality has been translated into recognition, when merely 7 months after its soft-opening, Don Rafa Boutique Hotel and Residences has been honored as Puerto Rico’s Leading Boutique Hotel in the World Travel Awards 2023.
